Research Products forms part of the Elsevier Research organization together with Research Solutions Sales, Research Networks and Research Products. The role will be in the product organization in ScienceDirect/Journal Branded Solutions (SD/JBS), the largest Scientific, Technical & Medical (STM) platform in the world with more than 17 Million content items from over 4,000 journals and over 35,000 books.

As Principal Product Manager for SD/JBS, you are responsible for ensuring our online platform offerings are represented accurately and competitively in business pitches for new and existing society partners. You will work in partnership with the \"bid team\" within STMJ that's responsible for securing key society accounts. The Principal Product Manager is responsible for onboarding key societies and their memberships to the JBS and SD platforms, making sure the business value of Elsevier platforms is delivered according to expectations. You will have an ongoing relationship with key accounts to ensure customer engagement and satisfaction, and to bring them on board with our platform expertise. You are also responsible for identifying, rationalizing, and prioritizing society-related platform needs and incorporate these into the SD and JBS roadmaps.

The Principal Product Manager will also oversee various internal projects aimed at rationalizing and strengthening the Journals on SD and JBS. You will be part of a team of dedicated product professionals, each with their own roadmap and area of expertise, in a highly stimulating environment with the following primary responsibilities:

**Support Society Acquisition & Retention Programmes**

Help analyze Requests For Proposals, prepare responses, and participate in pitches and presentations to existing and new society partners. Ensure that Elsevier's digital platform capabilities are showcased and provide a wow-factor to prospective societies.

**Society Onboarding to SD and JBS**

Onboard key society accounts to ensure the society and its members have the best possible digital experience on SD and JBS. Engage with society liaison officers and be the central point of contact for the society's digital stategy and ongoing member access and engagement.

**Society Roadmap**

Own the society-specific roadmap for SD and JBS, by keeping up to date on societies' platform needs, rationalizing and translating requests into solutions, and prioritizing these solutions. Engage with the product owners on SD and JBS to define and schedule the solutions.

**Internal Communications**

Be the primary team member responsible for internal communications and information sharing around SD/JBS (society) journals. Organize regular touchpoints for Publishers and other stakeholders to ensure up-to-date knowledge on platform roadmaps and offerings.

**Functional and Technical Competencies:**

Ensuring product decisions are based on data from multiple sources (customer, market, revenue, etc.) Interacting with customers regularly, and thoroughly understanding and communicating their use cases and business needs

Understanding the market dynamics around STM publishing, particularly as they pertain to professional societies

Using advanced communication techniques to convey Elsevier platform value proposition

Leveraging analytics and other insights to better understand customer needs.

**Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:**


Demonstrable product management experience with accountability for the development of building and optimizing online platforms and user experience

A proven history of success in business development activities, both winning new business and renewing existing business.

Experience interacting with different stakeholders (internal and external), explaining to them business & technical choices and facilitating decisions

Strong analytical skills, ability for conceptual & strategic thinking and yet very detailed oriented

Self-motivated and able to work in a matrix organisation, accepting responsibility for own actions

Experience with and knowledge of scientific publishing and online journal platforms a strong plus Bachelors or Masters in a technical subject (Computer Science or Engineering discipline) is preferred

Travel required (20-30%)
